Have a Conscious and Healthy Holiday Season

With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s a great time to set some health goals that will keep you grounded through endless parties, dinners and sweet treats. This season, more than usual, it can be difficult to stay on track, but with a few tips and some conscious living, you can navigate the holidays happily and healthily. Have a look at these 4 tips to get you started on your healthiest holidays yet!

Prioritize Movement

Whether it’s going for a walk, stretching with some yoga or getting into the gym with your trainer; the goal is to move your body. Choose movement that you enjoy! One tool I find extremely helpful is to schedule your movement time in the calendar, respecting it like any other appointment!

Prepare Your Meals

If you fail to plan, you’re setting yourself up for the opportunity to grab the quick, easy and less healthy options for nutrition. Get your fridge stocked with healthy ingredients during the weekend, preparing a few options for fresh fruits, veggies and protein sources. By having your meals ready, you will be ready to take on the week, and an indulgent meal on occasion will have less effect on your overall holiday success.

Stay Hydrated

Drinking your allotted water intake each day helps to rehydrate your body and allows for better digestion when you do eat. Feeling like something’s missing? Adding lemon to your water will give you a shot of vitamin C, aid in digestive health, and act as a detoxifying agent. Keep your water intake exciting by splurging on a water bottle that you love or that helps to track your daily intake.

Get Your Sleep

The holiday season often brings longer days and later nights as well as time away from our own home. This busy routine can take a huge toll on our bodies, leaving us tired and unmotivated. It’s so important to set your body up for success with a consistent sleep schedule and 8 hours of rested sleep. A great tip for preparing for a good night’s rest is to power off technology; phone, laptop and TV, at least 30 minutes before you’re ready to get into bed. Prior to bed is a great time to work on some journaling or indulging in a chapter of a great book.

Establish the time you need this holiday season to stay on track - when you can honour yourself and your needs, you’ll feel energized and strong. If you're looking for some accountability and are really determined to stay on track this holiday season, I’d love to support you!
