Oh summer...
The season we prepare our bodies for the most.
On the other hand, it's also the season where we become more lenient with what we put into our bodies and how we treat it.
If you've had a summer filled with fun, food, booze, little exercise, more food, then you're probably looking for a reset.
Here are 5 ways you can reset and get back on track once summer is over!
This doesn't mean start killing yourself at the gym for an hour a day. Just start moving your body. Start incorporating a walk in the morning or even some yoga at night. Most of us are trying to get back into the groove of work and school for the kiddos that we forget to take care of ourselves. MAKE. THE. TIME. Schedule it in. Start with 20 minutes of movement and work your way up!
Late nights, early mornings, travel and lack of sleep has your body feeling totally out of whack. The best way to set yourself up for success the following day is to get a good night's rest. Create a sleep routine that's going to help you go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time. Here's one of my biggest tips: SHUT DOWN or put away ALL electronic devices a minimum of 30 minutes before bed. This will allow your mind to start to settle and prompt your body for sleep. Try picking up a book, journaling, meditating or even listening to calming background music.
Let's say Sunday is your prep day for the week. You have a plan when you go to the grocery store so you're not left scrambling or the week. Let's be real - LIFE HAPPENS! By getting all your meals ready, you will know what's coming ahead for the week and that way if there are any distractions in your schedule, you will be PREPARED!
Hydrate, hydrate, HYDRATE! The best way to flush out your system is with some good ol' H2O. If you have a hard time getting that water down for the day or you forget, you can easily set reminders. Another good way is to put elastic bands on your water bottles so you know where you should be for specific times of the day.
This is probably one of the most important ones of all. When you learn to make time for yourself - regardless if that's 5 minutes or 60, you start to become more in tune with what YOU need. When you can honour yourself and your needs, you become a better person for everyone else. Shut it all down - this isn't a time to be scrolling or catching up on stuff. This is YOU time. To do the things that light your soul on FIRE!
